How can Relate Family Counselling Help?

All families are unique and have unique problems, but our counsellors are experienced relationship experts and are specially trained to work with families to help people resolve their problems

What will happen?

Relate Family Counsellors don't take sides and won't tell you what to do. They will explore with the family the interpersonal relationships and work with you to move away from the problems

Before beginning Relate Family Counselling, you will have an initial consultation. Following that you set up appointments with the counsellor that everyone can attend. The counsellor might suggest that family members sometimess come alone or in smaller groups or bring other relatives to come to some sessions

What we expect from you

Once counselling begins we ask that you keep your appointments. If you do have to cancel we ask you to give us 48 hours working days notice, so we can offer the appointment to someone else. Otherwise you will be charged.

How much will it cost?

We have a limited number of fully funded IAPT Couple Therapy for Depression, Children, Young People, Family and Psychosexual Therapy sessions available and the wait for these spaces may be substantially longer than non-funded spaces. For Caring and Sharing clients all sessions are fully funded. People attending all other Relate counselling services are asked to make a payment towards the cost of their counselling or therapy and a payment scale will be emailed as part of a Registration Pack. If you live out of the Bradford District the price for all services will be £35 for registration and Assessment appointment, then £90 for all following sessions..

Any referrals received from a statutory organisation (for example GP referrals) will be charged at the above rates.

Young people’s counselling is currently free.
